Novogene present at the virtual 2021 Festival of Genomics

Virtual conference brings together the global genomics and bioinformatics industry

The 6th annual Festival of Genomics was held online from 26th to 29th January 2021. The event was attended by a global audience of more than 6,400 along with over 50 exhibitors and sponsors, including Novogene. The event was the perfect opportunity for industry professionals to meet and learn about cutting-edge research and network with some of the biggest names in the industry.

The great and the good of the genomics industry were in attendance with over 270 speakers presenting everything from the future of the industry to topics such as sample collection strategies, bioinformatics, or how new genomic insights can lead to better clinical outcomes.

The first day saw one of Novogene’s customers, Assoc. Prof. Gianni Panagiotou, Head of Systems Biology and Bioinformatics at Leibniz Institute of Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, present “Shaping the Disease Microbiome with Dietary and Lifestyle Interventions”. Gianni shared some inspiring stories from his lab where dietary interventions caused a real change in the disease microbiome, with potentially profound implications for treating certain conditions.

The same day, Novogene’s Senior Product Manager Dr. Wei Li presented an Innovation Talk around Novogene’s technology. In “Novogene Transcriptomic and Epigenomic Solutions for Human Research”, Wei explained how Novogene offers innovative solutions to explore transcriptomics and uses RNA sequencing to determine the quality and sequences of RNA. Wei’s talk also included information on the different types of services offered for target RNAs and regulatory events of various kinds.

On the second day, Novogene hosted a ‘Mastermind’ session run with four experts in a more conversational format. The topic was “Multi-omics in Current and Future Scientific Research and Clinical Diagnosis”. This was hosted by Dr. Aina Pi Roig and Dr. Yuanyuan Chen of Novogene with panelists Ricard Argelaguet of EMBL EBI and Assoc. Prof. Rob Ewing of the University of Southampton.

The mastermind session shed light on the importance of multi-omics as an integral part of biomedical research, offering in-depth insights into different biological processes.

Novogene, a leading provider of next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics services, has a history of sponsoring the Festival of Genomics. As one of the key genomics events in the European calendar the event pulls together researchers, clinicians, vendors, and suppliers and helps to drive innovation in the industry forward.
